How to Embrace Hygge Life
Hygge Your Home
Let's face it, January and February are not the most exciting months. For many of us, they're the true heart of winter, when the holidays are a distant memory and spring feels a little too far away. To power through it, embrace a little "hygge" mentality and ramp up the cozy. This Danish concept of comfort celebrates well-being by savouring small pleasures with the people you treasure. Find your hygge, and before you know it, Spring will have sprung.
Tenets of Hygge Life
Lots of Candlelight
Modern Oil Lamps
Â
Our modern oil lamps fuse traditional glassblowing techniques with modern technology to create contemporary sculptural forms. Each lamp comes with a lifetime wick and a funnel for your liquid parrafin (ours is smokeless and odourless).
Belgian Pillar Candles
Â
Molded using traditional methods and then finished by hand, our Belgian pillars have an uneven, textured surface that reinforces the handmade quality of these long-burning candles. As they burn down, each pillar takes on an organic shape of its own.
Pillar Candleholders
Â
Local wood and local talent result in these ebonized pillar candleholders made just outside Toronto.
Get Cozy with a Throw
Wrap a Little Alpaca Around You
Â
It doesn't get much better than alpaca: washed, combed, spun, dyed, and woven entirely by hand by Peruvian alpaca experts. A distant relative of the llama – alpacas live in high altitudes and can withstand extreme weather conditions. This means their fibres breathe on hot days and retain body heat in colder weather. Similar to cashmere, alpaca is naturally hypoallergenic and ideal for those with sensitive skin or asthma.
Sip Some Tea
Brava, Bodum
Bodum's Assam tea press is like a French Press, but for tea, giving you full control of how much — or little — you want to steep your tea. Loose leaf tea lovers, this is for you. Pair it with Bodum's transparent mugs.
