From the high altitudes of the Andes Mountains, alpaca is washed, combed, spun, dyed, and woven entirely by hand by Peruvian alpaca experts. The alpaca – a distant relative of the llama – lives in high altitudes and can withstand extreme weather conditions that can fluctuate between -20 degrees Celsius to +30 degrees Celsius in a single day. Its fibre breathes on hot days and retains body heat in colder weather, and is comparable in quality to cashmere, angora, and mohair. Warmer and stronger but lighter than wool, alpaca is naturally hypoallergenic, meaning it’s ideal for those with sensitive skin or asthma.
