Oriente Italiano Dinnerware, Pervinca

Some things resist being updated. The Garofano carnation that winds its way across every piece of Oriente Italiano is one of them — first conceived by Gio Ponti for Richard Ginori in 1926, and reinterpreted for the modern table by Alessandro Michele, the former creative director of Gucci, who took the helm at Ginori 1735 in 2014 and returned to the archives with characteristic intention. Each piece is still painted by hand just outside of Florence, where the Manifattura di Doccia has been producing some of the world's finest porcelain since 1735.

Pervinca is a deep, composed blue with pure gold detailing — a combination that has been part of the decorative canon for centuries and remains, on a set table, thoroughly convincing.

Available as individual pieces to build your own set.

  • Fine white porcelain, handmade and hand-painted near Florence
  • Garofano (Carnation) and exotic botanical motifs; Pervinca blue ground with pure gold detailing
  • Part of the Oriente Italiano collection, available in ten colour variations
  • Care: hand wash only; avoid microwave use and abrasive detergents to preserve the gold finish
