Celebrate Female Makers
Celebrate thhe Women Who Inspire You
As a female owned and founded company, today we honour the many women who inspire us and support us. This includes the female makers we purchase from across the globe. From South Africa and Italy to the UK, Australia and right here in Toronto, they set an example as leaders in their industry. Having given up conventional careers to pursue our own dreams, we understand the enormous risk it takes to chart your own path. It’s International Women’s Day, and that means taking a moment to recognize that we’re strongest when we cheer each other on.
Mud Australia
Shelley Simpson founded Mud Australia in 1994, taking Limoges porcelain from France and hand crafting minimalist organic designs. Each piece is made entirely by hand in Sydney and the end result is a product that neatly intersects a minimalist aesthetic with an artisan finish.

Dede Johnston
Growing up in Northern Vermont set the stage for Dede Johnston's love of skiing and snow-laden alpine landscapes. The photographer captures her images in Courchevel, France, where she took her iconic Crowded Slopes photograph and used the image to create her Skiers China collection.

Wonki Ware
Along South Africa's Garden Route, Wonki Ware's Di Marshall began creating handmade pottery 20 years ago when her children were at school. She employs over 70 artisans from disadvantaged backgrounds, each trained personally by Marshall. The line, embraced for its delicate patterns and unique shapes — is a story of sustainability, beauty and hope.
