Setting Your Fall Table
It's September, the other New Year
Back to school, back inside, back-to-back zoom calls. For most of us, September really is the other New Year, marking a change in how we live and an opportunity to take stock. With the start of the Jewish New Year as well, new beginnings are top of mind. As you begin to shift from barbecues to roasts, from rosé to red and from outdoor patios to your dining room table, consider a few tweaks to warm up your fall gatherings. Given the state of the world, we suggest creating a table that's not just stylish, but also nurturing and cozy. Your celebrations should always be gratifying, no matter how small or large. As you keep the home fires burning, remember that any new year is always accompanied by hope and the opportunity for new beginnings.
Set the scene for your fall gatherings
Start with your canvas: a white tablecloth.
If you're missing your favourite eateries, a tablecloth is a great way to create a restaurant vibe at home. And while you can iron your tablecloth, you don't need to. A slightly wrinkled tablecloth brings with it a relaxed and not-too-precious feel.
Use Cloth Napkins.
A linen or cotton napkin always stands up to the messiest fingers. And if that's not enough, they just look nicer, feel better and are healthier for the planet.
Turn the oven to 375°
Chicken, pork tenderloin, or prime rib? As you turn to roasting again, make sure you have the right tools on hand.
Get your platters out
One of the nicest ways to present a meal is also the simplest. Instead of plating, save time and effort by using serving platters for a warmer, more communal feel.
