Pimm's Cup

Pimm's Cup

Recipe by Hopson Grace

Like a good G&T, a Pimm's Cup is a summer classic. Filled with ice, it's a cool, refreshing drink for hot days, and there's no more suitable occasion to make a batch than during Wimbledon, the world's oldest tennis tournament. Invented in 1832 by London bar owner James Pimm, the Pimm's Cup has become intertwined with Wimbledon's culture and heritage. It's a symbol of summer, sophistication and all things English. In the language of tennis, we liken this cocktail to a 'net' gain.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz(60 ml) Pimm's No. 1

  • 3 oz (90 ml) lemonade (a lemon-line soda or ginger ale also work well)

  • Ice

  • Cucumber slices

  • Fresh mint leaves

  • Orange or lemon slices (optional)

  • Strawberries (optional)

Instructions

  • Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.

  • Add the Pimm's No. 1 and add cucumber, mint leaves, and if you like, citrus slices.

  • Top off your glass with lemonade or alternative soda.

  • Stir gently and garnish with mint and, if you like, a strawberry.
