Hopson Grace's Favourite Recipes
Home
Given we're likely going to spend a lot more time at home in the foreseeable future, the silver lining during these chaotic times may include the chance to slow down and reset. It will almost certainly mean more home cooked meals. We asked our team to share their favourite recipes, for a little inspiration. They're tried, true and very comforting. Do you have a recipe you go back to over and over? If so, please send it our way.
Muesli
A yummy start to the day, this is a go-to for Operations Manager Marc Tassy and his wife, served with yogurt, fresh fruit and raw honey. Tip: If you don't feel like making the Muesli, Alpen is a great substitute.
Omelet with Bacon, Mushrooms and Ricotta
HG Co-Founder Andrea Hopson loves an omelet because it works for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For tips on how to cook the perfect omelette, the inimitable Julia Child will show you how in this video.
Yeasted Brown Butter Waffles
Sales Associate Nuala Murray claims there's not much that can top homemade waffles with pure maple syrup and fresh fruit. We'd love to know if you agree.
Tuscan Bean Soup with Kale and Squash
HG's In-Home Stylist Karla Hewitt loves to make soup, and this is her go-to for flavour, nutrition and comfort. She amplifies the taste by adding 1/2 cup of white wine when sautéeing the onions.
Chicken Larb
Sales Associate Isobel Butler can't get enough of this Chicken Larb because 1) It's bursting with flavour, 2) It's dead simple to make and 3) You can riff off the recipe by adding more or less spice, or switching out the cilantro for parsley.
Mahi Mahi Curry
HG Co-Founder Martha Grace McKimm's late mother, Margo, picked up this recipe in St. Lucia, where the McKimm family visited for over 30 years. It's Martha's #1 go-to in Margo's self-published cookbook, Everyday Gourmet.
Mediterranean Kale Salad with Feta
Manager Celeste Milborne swears by this salad that can act as a side or main. Serve with crusty bread and a crisp glass of white.
Marcella Hazan's Tomato Sauce
Digital Marketing Manager Lena Hesse lives by Marcella Hazan's tomato sauce with butter and onion. "It's ridiculously easy and addictive," says Lena. With three ingredients, no wonder it's the internet's most famous tomato sauce.
Carrot Cake
Finance Director Andrea Lombard's household is gluten-free, and she swears by this carrot cake recipe from the cookbook Flavor Flours. Her guests swear it's the best they've ever eaten.
