As an homage to the city in which we live and work, we commissioned artist and Story Tiles founder Marga Van Oers to create an exclusive tile of the Toronto cityscape. Toronto has evolved drastically as a city over the last 50 years, with the Mies van der Rohe's TD Centre paving the way for five decades of growth that transformed the city from a burgeoning metropolis to an international hub and the 4th largest city in North America. The perspective of this piece is imagined from the Toronto islands, offering a unique vantage point that captures Lake Ontario and our city's waterfront.
Story Tiles are miniature stories on old-fashioned Dutch tiles, or “Dutch Whites”, that have been made since the 16th Century. Amsterdam-based visual artist Marga van Oers gives old tiles a new life with her unique, detailed and humorous collages. Every Story Tile tells its own story. Use as a coaster or wall art for your home or office.
